Any AudioTX users?

I'm gonna take the leap and get into the ISDN fray but I'm curious as to how
many people actually USE AudioTX and if they've had any issues. I'd also
like to clarify that I'm interested, primarily, in US users.

Yes, yes, yes... AudioTx is fabulous.

I've been using it for about 2 years with no problems whatsoever.
(except that one time when my computer's CPU decided to die...lol)

It's amazing... complies with any other "box" so there's never any
need for a "bridge"

Also, a fellow v/o guy and I tried it using the internet protocols,
and it still worked VERY well... although the delay time was
noticable.

Get it... use it... you'll love it

Jason,

I've read that the support for ISDN lines by the phone company (companies)
is getting worse. Have you had any problems with synch or the line going
down? If so, how long did it take for you to get it repaired?

I had read a thread on DSLReports that said BellSouth is considering not
offering ISDN anymore. I'm wondering what countless VO folks will do?

QUOTE:
My father lives out in a rural area of Tennessee, and currently has one B
channel of isdn. When my dad recently called to activate the second B
channel, he was told Bellsouth is discontinuing their isdn service and will
no longer be providing any new services.

No problem at all... and during setup, the guy who set up my line gave
me a direct number to him if I had a problem. When I had a problem -
and it was MY problem, not theirs... he was patient and helpful. It
was fixed in a minute. I still have his number glued to my monitor.

Bill... it's rural Tennessee!!! lol...

Seriously, his one line of B service is probably an internet
connection, which BellSouth may, indeed, be discontinuing.
There are too many studios, TV and radio stations that use ISDN to get
rid of it entirely. Besides, it's an easy to supply service that grows
organically from the digital phone lines that are the standard
everywhere... There are probably radio feeds using ISDN from Uganda...
lol.

Besides, if the sky falls in and ISDN disappears, then there will be
another way to overcome that problem. Another guy who visits here
(Charlie) and I tried the AudioTx using an internet connection. It was
perfect... except that there was a considerable delay. (about 2 tenths
of a second or so] That's a hassle for sure, but it is a perfect
connection that doesn't drop any packets. Useful if things change...

I'm not losing any sleep over it yet...

Hi Bill and Jason,

As Jason points out, there will be other options.

Last night, I got to test Source-Connect from Source-Elements and I'm
pleased to say that it works great. It's a plug-in to Pro Tools. In
playing around with settings, we were able to get a loop back around
280 milliseconds (which is as good as it gets).

AudioTX Communicator rocks, too. ATX-C is designed to be robust. So,
it has great error-correction built in, and you -- the user -- don't
have much control in that area.

The Source-Connect plug-in enables the user to deselect
error-correction -- or eliminate it all together. Over Internet,
you're taking a risk with lost packets. But, assuming you want to take
that risk, Source-Connect really can reduce Internet latency.

In chatting with the session engineer, I was informed that
Source-Elements designed to product to directly compete with the ISDN
market, not to mention hardware codec's. The plug-in works Pro Tools to
Pro Tools, though. Most likely, it'll become another bell and whistle
to add to your equipment cabinet.

I dug back and found this AudioTX thread. Can anyone please help me
out? I need someone to test with over the net.

Also, anyone have experience using digifon to bridge AudioTX to ISDN?
Thanks,

Rey and I did a session using Internet. And, man, A-TX rocks. The
latency issue wasn't significant at all. In fact, I did an ISDN session
with a studio last week and my feel about comparing the two (ISDN vs.
IP): the response time difference between ISDN circuit and IP was not
significant enough to worry about.

No problems working behind firewalls either (he had one on his end and
I had one on mine).
